CheckIn (the "Service") is a monitoring service through which family members living apart, partners, individuals themselves, and other important people can share check-ins triggered by everyday iPhone use. This Privacy Policy sets out how User information is handled in the Service.
Scope
This Policy applies to the Service app, related web pages, notification functions, and associated support responses. Features such as operating systems, notifications, and Shortcuts provided by Apple or other third parties are subject to each provider's terms and policies.
Information We Collect
The Service primarily collects or stores the following information to the extent necessary to provide and operate its monitoring functions.
- Account information: Email address, display name, user ID, and other information required for login and identification.
- Profile information: Names displayed to another person, icons, and other information optionally set by the User.
- Pairing information: Information identifying the other party in a monitoring relationship, invitation and approval status, and linkage information such as QR codes.
- Check-in information: Time check-ins are sent, history, and settings needed for notification determinations.
- Subscription status information: Subscribed plan, validity of the subscription, identifiers needed for purchase verification, and other information needed to provide plans or determine usage limits.
- Notification information: Device tokens for push notifications, notification settings, and results of determinations for missed-check-in notifications.
- Support information: Inquiry content, reply destination, and communication history.
- Technical information: Logs, usage date and time, communication records, and basic device or OS information required for stable operation, prevention of unauthorized use, and issue investigation.
The Service emphasizes limiting information to what is needed for monitoring. It is not intended to continuously share real-time location information, contacts, or health information. If features that obtain such information are provided, they will be clearly indicated separately in the app.
Purposes of Use
- Account registration, login authentication, and User identification.
- Confirming subscribed plans, applying limits on the number of people, and providing subscription functions.
- Providing core functions including sending check-ins, displaying history, missed-check-in notifications, and pairing with another person.
- Displaying or notifying the other person of required information according to the monitoring relationship set by the User.
- Preventing or investigating unauthorized use, impersonation, nuisance conduct, and system failures.
- Responding to inquiries, verifying identity, and sending important notices.
- Feature improvement, quality enhancement, and usage analysis.
External Services and Device Permissions
The Service may use device features and external services such as the following to provide its functions.
- Apple Shortcuts / Automations: For automatic check-in settings triggered by app launch, charging, dismissal of an alarm, Wallet use, or similar actions.
- Push notifications: For missed-check-in notifications and important notices.
- Camera: For pairing using a QR code.
These features depend on the User's device settings, permission settings, OS specifications, and communications environment. Shortcut trigger settings and automation execution status on the device may be managed within Apple's mechanisms.
Retention Period
Collected information is retained only for the period necessary to accomplish its purposes of use or for a period required by law. After withdrawal or once it is no longer needed, information is deleted or anonymized by reasonable methods, except for information that must be retained for legal or operational reasons.
Security Measures
The Service takes access-control, authentication-management, and other reasonable security measures and endeavors to prevent leakage, loss, or damage to information. However, due to the nature of internet communications and cloud services, absolute security cannot be guaranteed.
Disclosure, Correction, Deletion, and Other Requests
Users may request disclosure, correction, deletion, suspension of use, or similar handling of their own information held by the Service in accordance with applicable laws. Please contact the address below to make a request.
Identity verification may be required, and immediate handling may not be possible for legal or operational reasons.
Amendments
This Policy may be amended in response to changes in laws, added features, or operational changes. Material changes will be announced in the app, on this page, or by another appropriate method.
